Age Verification Policy

1) 18+ access requirement
SweepsPlayground.com is intended for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to access or use our services. By creating an account or continuing past any age gate, you confirm you are 18+.
2) How we may verify age
- Self-declaration: we may ask you to confirm your date of birth or confirm you are 18+.
- Risk-based checks: we may request additional verification where required to comply with our policies, prevent misuse, or where we reasonably suspect underage use.
- Document/ID checks (where needed): we may use third-party age-verification providers to validate that you are 18+. This may involve checking a government-issued ID and/or matching a selfie to the ID, depending on the method offered.
If you do not complete a requested age check, we may restrict features or deny access.
3) Suspected or confirmed underage use
- We may pause access while we investigate or request verification.
- If we reasonably believe an account is used by someone under 18, we may suspend or terminate the account and block further access.
- We may remove related content or entries and take steps to prevent re-registration.
- Where appropriate, we may respond to lawful requests from authorities.
4) Age-related data handling (Privacy)
We handle personal information in line with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, including data minimisation and security safeguards.
- What we collect: date of birth and/or an “age verified” status. If ID checks are used, the provider may process ID images and face images to confirm age.
- How we use it: to enforce the 18+ rule, prevent fraud and misuse, and meet compliance needs.
- Storage: we aim to store only what we need (for example, a verification result, reference ID, and timestamps). We do not need to keep copies of identity documents unless required for a specific purpose and permitted by law.
- Sharing: where verification is performed by a provider, relevant data is shared with that provider to complete the check. Providers may process data in other countries; we take reasonable steps to ensure protections are in place.
- Retention: we keep age-verification records only as long as necessary for the purposes described, then delete or de-identify where practicable.
- Your rights: you may request access to or correction of your personal information.
